On July 1 2019 i had a reservation for a small economy car at the gsp location in South Carolina but when I get there they stated that all they have is a jeep compass which had not been cleaned just the floor mats had been cleaned .i figured since i got to get home i would not complain about it but as i get down the road like a 30 minutes i started itching (there was pet hair )and i called customers service they told me i could swap it out at the next avis . i got there at the square mall avis in athens ga she tells me i would need to buy another rental or get the car shampoo and bill avis

Hello. While I work for Avis, I am NOT an official representative and cannot respond to contract issues.

I just work for another station. It is true that you must come in each time if you are closing a contract and opening a new one, even if it's the same vehicle. One reason being that we may need that vehicle back or to swap you out for another vehicle. Another reason is that when you prepay we get a voucher code only.

The local Avis would Not have your credit card information and thus you couldn't be billed for additional days or gas if it wasnt returned. While corporate may have your information, the local Avis would need your credit card info as well. If you were to renew your second contract, you would not have had to come in. Furthermore, it allows for us to examine the vehicle.

While I understand you wish to keep it, we must examine the vehicle even if it is closed out and re-rented. It does appear that this location does need additional customer service training in my opinion, but renting cars is an extremely busy task. Apparently yours was busier when you arrived. You have to remember that on certain days, we could have over 500 reservations going out.

Our Monday for example have 453 cars going out. Lines aren't something we like but are sometimes unavoidable. If you want to keep the same car, book the same car class. It saves us on a car.

Unless that car was on recall, 99 percent of the time you will get it back. I only write this because I want you to see it from the perspective a rental agent.

I know this won't change your opinion, but note that none of this was nefarious. Enjoy your day.

Don't rent from Avis. They put extra charges on my credit card for insurance(they say) that I had already paid thru priceline

I rented a car thru priceline for a rental car for 9/27/2019thru 9/29/2019. When I got my credit card bill Avis had charged me $175.69 additional. I called they said they could only take off $70.72 off the charge. I had already paid thru priceline for the additional insurance.I have rented cars for many years, but have never been scammed by any other car rental service.So now they tell me that I have to pay that charge & they can't do anything about it. So please take my advise NEVER NEVER rent thru Avis, you never know what charge they will pull out of the air & add it to your credit card. I can't even give them 1/4 star.Why isn't there a 0 on the rate this company?

You actually didn't rent through Avis, but a third party called Priceline. When you book anything thru these sites instead of directly with the rental agency or hotel or airline, etc.

and you have problems you are likely to get few results with, say Avis because you didn't book through them. Now you know.

Avis, by the way is much better in the customer service department than Hertz, which tends to have rude and unhelpful employees in many places. This is from my experience, anyway.

Am I mistaken or don't you have to sign something when you pick up the vehicle which states your cost to rent? What does your paperwork say.

By now, it is imperative that no one ever believe anything someone from a company, eg., cable or cell phone or rental car verbally tells you.

Only something in writing will protect you. You got caught up in the old "upgrade" scam the employee pulled on you for whatever reason.
