This is to lodge an official complaint for harassment caused to us while make a booking with Avis.
As you can see in the mail below, we had been confirmed 2 cars & PAYMENT was also made at that very moment.
Before making the payment, the driver details was asked for.
We had mentioned that both the drivers hold a valid INDIAN Driving License. Hearing which the CC executive made all the necessary checks regarding the drivers,licenses on call itself & confirmed our booking.
Finally we were asked to collect 2 cars from the Inverness Airport - AVIS counter.
When we reached the Airport to collect our cars, we were surprised & shocked of the 2 things that awaited us.
1. Lady at the counter said that the 5 seater that we had been paid for was not available. But another car was available for an additional cost of £30. This was quite surprising as we were not informed this when we made the Booking & Payment.
2. Later she informed us that we cannot take any of the cars as the drivers had an INDIAN License, which was valid.
We tried explaining to her that we had taken a car few weeks back from AVIS in Newbury with the same licence & same drivers!
But she said , that was illegal and cars not hired until you have a valid UK driving License
In the end she quite disrespectfully asked us if we give any driving test/exam in India before getting our licenses.
We spent close to 3 hours of efforts and a lot of money to hire these cars.
Unfortunately, none of it proved fruitful.
This entire ordeal hampered our travelling plans in Inverness and on the contrary ended up paying much more money.
We would like you to treat this mail very seriously.
Monetary Loss: $500.
