Update: They gave me $125.00 back. It took multiple emails and a call, and it wasn't everything, but at least it was something.

I made a reservation online. I called beforehand to check if I could still apply a military discount at the counter even if I paid online, and was told "yes". My flight got delayed and I missed a connecting flight which caused a big change in my reservation time. With that, I would be returning my car after hours. I called Avis and told them this and they said "No problem, your price won't change."I got to the car rental location and was first told that I would not be able to apply a military discount. Then I told them I did no want any extra protection/coverage, and again told them I would be returning the car after hours. They said, "No problem, if they have a drop box, you're good to go. The price won't change."Then I got my bills. The initial online charge was $106.87+mileage. I ended up getting another bill for $250.21 to total $357.08. On top of not getting a military discount, I got charged for two days because it was returned after hours due to the flight delay (even though I used it for 4 hours). And the odometer somehow indicated 253 miles when I drove directly home which is 174 miles, and they charged $27/ day for a coverage that I denied (my fault for signing the agreement, but still frustrating that they messed that up). They won't do anything to help because according to their book, they can charge me for these things. The problem is that I was told false things multiple times and they don't care about your circumstance. They just want to suck you dry.

Feedback/QuestionType:Rental Billing InquiriesComments: Hi,I made a reservation online on June 30 to pick up a car at ChicagoO'hare on July 2 and drop it off in Holland, MI on July 2. I prepaidonline for a base rate of $70.00 and a total of $106.87 + mileage at arate of $.30/mile. I also called before I paid online, and was told Icould apply a military discount at the counter. My flight was delayed and I missed a connecting flight to Chicago. Icalled them to change the time of reservation and they said nothingwould change. I got to the counter and they told me I couldn't apply amilitary discount. I drove straight to the Holland, MI location which is175 miles. It turned out I arrived after hours due to the flight delayand had to drop the keys off in a box. Then I got my credit card bills, and I called the Holland location andthis is what I was told: They confirmed a base rate of $70. They chargedan extra day because I had to return it after hours due to the flightdelay. They said I had a $30/day coverage selected which I thought hadbeen declined in Chicago. The odometer somehow indicates that I drove253 miles which is 75 more than what Google says it is. (It wasterrible, stop-and-go traffic...I read on certain forums that this canmess with a Prius's odometer). Then they said I had another 54 dollarsfor something I forget, and then taxes and other fees. So in total Ipaid $106.87 online, and then got charged an extra $250.21 in Holland.I was told the flight delay wouldn't change anything since I called? Iwas told I could get a military discount? What is up with the mileage?Do you always automatically charge a whole extra day if a car isreturned after hours regardless of flight issues? My price somehowjumped 350%.Thanks,Joe
