Rented a Corolla from Lafayette driving to Lake Charles, LA. I was doing 70 mph (speed limit) driving down I-10 when one of the tires blew out almost causing me to be involved in a major accident.

After my nerves settled down, I asked Avis for roadside assistance which they provided. A few weeks later I get a bill for $90.00. I asked them for a waiver on this one for my trouble, but they politely told me to pack sand and pay up. My group has used AVIS exclusively for years and have spent thousands of dollars with them.

I now use an alternate rental company and tell as many people as I can to stay away from them. A $90.00 charge has just cost them thousands in rental fees.

Nice business model. Oh yes, I WAS one of their "Preferred" members.
