Avis employee was rude, lied to me by company, and tried bait and switch.

For the first time, I booked a car rental through Avis. I chose Avis because of a discount coupon that offered to add another driver at no charge. My daughter, 21, was coming with me. I was told by the 800 number that I could add my daughter with no surcharge. When I arrived at the Avis counter in Cleveland, Ohio I was first told that my daughter could not be added at no additional charge. Then I explained I had one large hard-sided golf bag that would require a seat to fold down. Eve, the Avis representative, went into the back and returned telling me she found a car for me. She sent me and my family to the back where she said the car would be waiting. No one directed me to the car, I just had to ask, "Is this my car?" We tried to fit the case into the car but it would not work. I went back to Eve at the counter and said that I would need to pay more money for another car. At that point, I was furious, and went over to the Enterprise counter. The Enterprise agent was helpful, came very close to matching the Avis discounted price, and accompanied me into the back area to make sure the car was suitable. I will never rent from Avis again and will always stay with Enterprise.

Thursday, I complained to Cheapoir about the bait and switch from Avis and after 45 minuites on hold, they came back and said that avis would refund my $800 on Friday. ANOTHER LIE>

AVIS HAS LIED LIED LIED...

BAIT and Switch and then the promise to refund the $800 in 2-3 days , lie, then 7-10 days-lie...then 2 weks..-lie and now what.

I am filingna complaint with the Better BUSINESS bUREAU TODAY.

my RECEIPT WAS TO RENT A CAR FOR $72/WEEK..AND YOU CHARGFED ME $1769.

avis SUCKS.....MY FRIEND RENTED FROMEUROCAR AND HER BILL WAS $600. shE HAD GTHE GPS, THREE ACCIDENTS AND A FLAT TIRE.

I had an accident and a flat tire and had to wait hours for AVIS and missed my flight and then had another bill of $1200 to get home.

AVIS is a buzz kill and is not ever going to be recommended by me. I called our local Triple A and they confirmed that they don't use AVIS and prefer Hertz.

I will alos speak to a lawyer on Monday. As since I have been robbed by ABIS and cheapo air was complicit to this crime.....I have no money in my account to pay my insurance and it was cANCELLED AND MY CAR INSURANCE WAS CANCELLED FOR NON PAYMENT AND MY TAXES ARE LATE AND ALL HAVE LATE FEES. I AM DAMAGED FROM YOUR bulklshiT.

Avis review in Newark, New Jersey: Bait and Switch

We made a reservation for a rental with Avis. The corporate rate qouted was $41.50 unlimited mileage. On the day we were supposed to pick up the car our flight was delayed out of Newark. We called the booth in Milwaukee to make sure they would be open and a car still available. They assured us yes on both. We made a point to call the both directly and not rely on the 800#. When we finally landed and went to get the car we were told that there were no more small cars left and since we arrived late we had to rent a larger car at a higher rate. When we protested the higher rate we were told that that was company policy and there was nothing they could do about it. We pointed out that not only had we called to advise them of the delay but in the confirmation of the reservation nowhere is it mentioned about a "penalty" for arriving late. It was apparent they hoped we would be too tired to protest the higher rate and just accept it. When we did object, they tried to "meet you halfway" on the price as if we did something wrong. After alot of arguing they finally rented the car at the original agreed rate. So instead of taking 5 minutes to rent a car it wound up costing us another 30 minutes arguing for something they should of given us in the first place. Just another case of a company looking for short term profits instead of keeping customers happy. Goodbye Avis. Hello Hertz, National, Dollar etc.

Avis will rip you off

I used to work for the company as a Counter Sales Manager. We were forced to make sure that each rental agent used the correct verbiage on each rental. Essentially, the correct verbiage was deceitful and confusing to the customer. They called it assumptive selling. Really it's just word play to trick you into an upsell or coverage (insurance). It's not the rental agents fault. It's the fault of upper management. They fire any agent that is considered a low sales performer. Also, they run their locations understaffed so be prepared to wait in line. If you need some amusement while waiting in line then listen to the rental agents talk to each customer. They will say the same things over and over again...quite entertaining.

Avis review in Reston, Virginia: Ripped off $200 cash.

Budget/Avis Car Rental, North Syracuse, NY, told me I had to give $200 cash and a hold on my debit card of $200 to get my car that was already paid for. I assumed it was on the contract and left. After returning the car I waited for the money less charges for a gallon of gas to be returned to my account. I called and they told me they never take cash. They had also told the 2 women ahead of me the same thing and they were smart enough to leave. The manager laughed at me when I told him what happened. I called Budget and they said they would refer the case to another department. When I called back to find out what was happening I found out they had never even referred it. I was told there were no security cameras to verify my story. I filed a report with the Syracuse Police. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. Any car rental agent could pull this scam late at night when no one is around to verify it. Beware and know Budget/Avis has the most appalling customer service ever. It not only doesn't exist, it's a negative.

Avis review in Norfolk, Virginia: Aggressive selling techniques, bad service!

Bad service and lies at Richmond airport Avis! I have been renting from this location for over two years and always received excellent service until a couple of months ago. In October I had an embarrassing situation with the show off city manager trying to sell me everything under the sun. Customer service should be job one Avis. This manager was rude to me and to his employees! I did not say anything at the time because quite frankly I was intimidated and embarrassed by him. He should not be in charge of anything!! Suddenly this location has become slow, the cars are dirty and they lie about everything.

Avis promises to give me a car, but doesn't when I go up to the counter

I had a prepaid vehicle reserved on Avis, all seemed well, till I went up to the counter and the lady refused to give me a vehicle under claims that I have bad credit (I don't have bad credit). I promptly went to Hertz who didn't seem to have a problem giving me a vehicle. Meanwhile Avis wants to charge me a $50 cancellation fee for this claiming it was my fault for not passing their *** credit check system. Small claims here I come. I'm sure they'll enjoy the $5000 bill they have to charge for their lawyer to fly into my *** small town court. My advise, stay away from Avis, they seem to have mood swings where they'll either give you a car or not as this is not the first time this has happened to me with Avis.

Avis Rents Out A Recall Car / Then Bad Service

Avis Rent a Car in Fullerton (1105 N Harbor Blvd, Fullerton, CA) rents out a car that was flagged for recall due to faulty brakes. I only found out about this when I got figured in an accident (luckily no one was injured) when the brakes failed. The towing service guy told me that the Dodge Avenger (the rented out to me) was actually flagged for recall. Beware of Avis if you value your life! Also, when they hold you responsible when you cannot return the car on time. Which actually, I was at the specified location at the appropriate date/time; but there was no one from Avis at that location for hours! And they were threatening to charge me for extra days and/or towing services. It was a mistake to rent from Avis!

When you rent a car from Avis at Tampa International Airport you will be scammed.. The Employees are trained by a company as to not let you know you are accepting all the extra's.... even if you point the total is not correct when renting.. the agent will lie and tell you youR discount will be on the return... One of the Avis Reps were on our plane and heard us complaining....she said that they are told they will loose their jobs if they dont sell a certain amount.... and told to do what ever they need to do to keep their jobs. She said they are observed daily and must follow the wheel...(what ever that is).... That the District Manager pushes all employees to work in a hositle environment. She did mention a company by the name of "The Kory Group" (not sure of spelling)...

A NEWS STATION should go undercover and see how awful it is to experience this behavior and scam that Avis has decided is their 'new customer service EXPERIENCE"

She explained to me that if by the third observation they have not SCAMMED ENOUGH CUSTOMERS she would get written up and loose pay and possible demotion.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO "WE TRY HARDER' their new slogan should be "WE SCAM HARDER"

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM AVIS AT TAMPA AIRPORT.. BAD BAD BAD.... your 50.00 rental will cost you 250.00

OH YEAH GET THIS ONE..... SHE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY CHARGE FOR SMOKING IN CARS... 250.00 DOLLARS AND IF YOU SMOKE THEY CLEAN THEM UP BY SPRAYING THEM WITH FREBREZE....AND ROLL DOWN WINDOWS AND THEN CHARGE THE NEXT CUSTOMER, EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT EVEN SMOKED IN THE CAR.

Avis review in Kansas City, Missouri: Worst rental car company

Avis rental car is the worst place to rent a car from. No wonder they continue to fall in the ranks. I feel the company will be no longer in business within the next few years. The service is very shoddy and they don't have the management to help the customers. It seems they have gotten away with the we try harder slogan to we don't try at all. It's not so much the agressive agents, it's the verbage they use over and over again. To every customer? How is that personal? I don't want to pay 50 dollars more a day for my car. I want the car and be able to go! They seem like robots when they attempt to sell me something. Also, once again, the same verbage is spoke to each and every customer. This is not good practice and far from a good experience. I just wonder when more rental car companies are gonna use computers to be able to rent rather the the face to face contact.
