Worst car rental place in history

Unprofessional, each staff gives a different policy/rules, this particular employee was very spiteful because I threatened to file a complaint he basically told me since I'm going to so so he will remove the discount he offered me. This man told my boyfriend he is going out back and will be right back, this man was gone for 15mins and didn't even apologies when he returned.. Even while he was missing this gentleman in the lobby apparently knows this employee and said " you have to keep an eye on P( I will not say the full name)" I guess this was a way of saying this employee is forgetful etc. we return the car and wanted to make a split payment, he told us we couldn't , well I thought this was rather surprising considering another employee few days prior allowed us a split payment.there was even another instant where reservations were made with P over the phone but when I got to avis there were no reservations so this other employee had to start all over, he didn't even type or print and extra piece of paper which I'm used to seeing basically staying g I approved an additional driver.. His excuse it's ok it's not that important !! Well today We also told P we want to extend so we had to go to the bank to get the exact change to pay for the three days, when we got back he had forgotten we wanted to extend so he had to start on the preparation of the paper work.. This place was too complicated the staff seem confused and u see a different face each time for the main part. I will never rent again from avis, based on the experience I've had at this location I would say customer service training is needed, attitude adjustments, carefree environment sucks. I didn't feel appreciated. Worst car rental experience ever.

Extra charge at picking up

It was the first time at all that we had to pay a parking fee when we picked up a car. Whenever we get a rental car it is parked close to the location. Otherwise it would make no sense having a rental car office there! The fee was never mentioned before and – if at all – should be included in the total charge mentioned before and not to be signed at the office at pick up time! Unusual conditions… It is not the ‘extra’ of 12$ we are talking about, we think this is not proper business and people should know that some customers feel like being ripped off a bit.

Ripped off just for extending a car one day

I had originally rented a car for a day because I was in town for an interview. Then my flight was cancelled due to weather and I had asked for an extension and was told by the rep that there was only going to be a 12 dollar extension charge. After a few days my online statement showed up an additional 100.00 dollar charge from Avis on top of the 78 dollars I had already prepaid. I told a rep the story and she said that she could not do anything to return my money. One of the charges was for not returning the car with a full tank of gas when I filled it and even have the receipt for it. The way this company does business is like running a scam

Charged extra on "prepaid" rental

I needed to rent a car twice in the past month and I signed up for Avis prepaid rentals because there was some savings compared to standard rental. In both cases I was charged additional money when I turned in the cars even though I hadn't added or changed anything and my original confirmation indicated there was no balance due. I contacted Avis and they said there was a surcharge but there was no indication that any surcharge would be added or what that surcharge was for. Why prepay when you can cancel or change a standard rental with no cost? Don't prepay and don't rent from Avis!

Avis customer damaged my car: "don't care" attitude from Avis

A European tourist made a big dent in my parked car in Hermanus, South Africa. He was kind enough to give me a copy of his rental agreement, and I contacted the lady at Avis responsible to handle claims like mine (lee.stone@***.co.za). I submitted all documents, as well as a repair quote. Until now, I got the "I don't care" attitude, no replies to emails and no phone calls returned. I am reading about a lot of similar complaints about Avis in South Africa... My company books a lot of cars with Avis worldwide, and we will now take our business elsewhere!

The Avis reps in South Africa were most likely still in mourning for that mandela guy and unable to properly concentrate on your problem. Luckily, things are much much better in that once-safe and beautiful country than before.

AVIS - poor management zero responsibility

I have rented a car on December 24 2013, at Hilton San Jose CA, I have arrived to AVIS desk at 12:20 PM (my flight was little behind) and the office was CLOSED.....in my reservation confirmation 0549****US6 it was clearly written that the office hours are: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Sat - Sun 8:00 am - 12:00 pm It was outrages customer service, first they blamed me that I was late in 2 hours (how come they have this attitude when you depend on airlines), secondly they told me that this office is closed today because of the holidays....holidays? how come I have different operating hours in Avis confirmation? Second - I asked customer service to arrange another car at San Jose airport, the answer: we can do it but you will have to pay more...did you read what I just wrote? Poor AVIS even if you will try harder no way you will be better with this culture, I will avoid renting cars from you, I will recommend the same to my business friends and I hope other will follow.

Forced me to rent much more expensive car and made a huge charge for small scratch

Although I’ve order a car in advance online, upon arrival to Munich airport I was told that I have to wait for the type of my car or pay almost 3x more to get a car without waiting (with automatic transmission thought). There were on 2 types of cars with automatic transmission. For the small scratch on an alloy (wheel) that I'm sure I have not done I was charged 400 euros that was higher than cost of rental and almost the price of the alloy. Although I was promised a proper investigation my credit card was charged in a couple of hours after I returned the car.

Scammed

Rented a car for my family trip, covered by my progressive insurance, so i did not purchase the insurance offered to me. Car broke down after three days and left me stranded in a restaurant with a baby and her two brothers. Anyhow, i was offered a replacement, took it. After a month, i got a bill in the mail for $800, claiming i had damaged the fuel tank and was responsible for this. Clearly a scam, how it was my fault i never knew, and i had to pay. Their proof for this charge: an inspection without me present!!! As for the gas scam, was a victim of it too. Charged 100$ to fill a small suv. Very shady operation, zero customer service, crooks plain and simple. Avoid renting from this joke of a place.

Fradulent Expenses Tagged to my Bill

I had booked a Car On Line on June 21st 2013 and was to be picked up on Monday June 24th 2013 ( clearly declining any Insurance as my Insurance Company was paying for the Insurance and had Instructed me so, See Attached Document Page 2 ) with Avis Car Rental located at 369 Old Country Road, Holiday Inn, Carle Place, NY 11514 ( Document Attached ) When I went to the Car Rental an Oriental Gentleman goes by the name of Anthony or Andrew I am not sure of the name but is Operator Owner and is there on Sundays mostly ( I was told by his Employee later) offered to upgrade my car to full size at no charge and also throw in Liability Insurance as I was a repeat Customer. He further said that I would be Liable for other Insurance but this was just to protect his investment. The car was Rented for a week as this was rented as per approval given by my Insurance Company Geico till an Insurance Accident Claim against my Car was Settled. Since the claim was not settled I extended the rental to a week and then another to finally a month as it was taking longer for my Insurance Company to settle. When I returned the car on July 24th 2013 I was charged the additional Insurance which was denied by my Insurance Company ( Kindly See Attached Geicos Receipt ). Geico advised me to go to the Avis Car Rental and get a refund I then called Avis Car rental and the gentleman at the desk asked me to come and see the owner operator on Sunday morning as he would be available then. However when I went to see the Owner/Operator on Sunday July 28th 2013 he first said That this $ 468 is not insurance this is a package, I then told him that Geico has denied the claim he then said that I should have told him that Geico was Paying for it. I told him no I was paying for it and Geico would only reimburse me. I then told him to check the documents that was originally given to him he then told me that if he took out my file I would loose any claim to my refund. I asked him to make me a copy and told him I shall report his doings and I shall see him in Court. He was a very nasty man and threatened me that he had recorded me etc. Which should be reviewed to further my defence. I then came home and filed a Complaint with Avis Car Rental on 7-28-2013 my Complaint # is 1236**** filed with Avis Car Rental but there has been no Action by them hence I have come here to get justice.

Abusive Gas Charged

I rented a car in Washington DC for 4 days at Reagan airport. When I returned I didn't have time to refill the gas tank. I knew they would charge more per gallon, but I certainly did not expect it to be $9.29/gallon! (the average price in DC for November 2013 is $3.38). I called to complain but the rep was impersonal and showed no concern. I asked for them to send me the contract, but regardless of what the small print says, it is abusive to charge such an exaggerated price per gallon of gas... The $81.32 gas charge almost equaled what I paid for the whole rental of the car! If Avis is not concerned with customer satisfaction, why rent from them again? They will overcharge you and not mind if you rent from them or not again.

Rude associate at the front office

Riverside,ca,university avenue store.I always rent from this store, great cars, but always unfriendly staff. On 11/13/2013 I rented a car for 2 days, but extended the rental by one day and was informed that there is a $10 fee for extensions.I complained and was told that the fee was waved. On returning the car the following day,the girl at the counter rudely told me that as far as she was concerned there was no waving. After asking to talk to the manager, she told me she will wave the "fee",but I should not expect it will be done next time.Well,I don't think there will be a next time with such rude services.Does 'Avis Car Car'company have customer service training?

You know what is rude, calling someone who is not a child "girl", it is degrading and a man who calls women "girl" shows no respect for women.

Second not giving you your way and changing the rules just for you is not the same as being rude.

You even got what you wanted, no reason to complain.

Also if anyone should be called girl or boy it should be you based on your behavior.

Avis @ Hilton Hotel in Quebec City - WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

Avis is a good company but the manager at this particular facility should be fired or beheaded. I was promised that I would be picked up at the cruise terminal - WRONG. I was promised to be reimbursed for taxi costs - WRONG. I was promised transportation back to the cruise terminal WRONG. But the worst part was the 45 minute wait in line on a Sunday morning with one young (nice but very slow) employee. I have e-mailed the manager five times without any response whatsoever. I did contact corporate Avis/USA and they were extremely considerate and helpful so they get an "A". STAY AWAY FROM THIS PARTICULAR FACILITY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!

Cheaters with NO customer service to talk with

I don't need to go into many details (I would be more than happy to explain everything in detail if Avis want to get in contact with me) After I wrote 27 emails and made 8 phone calls,(and 1 answer from them) almost 4 months after I've being overcharged by 700 euro, today I've received an e-mail where without a real apologies they were informing me that they will give me back 640 euro (60 euros less than what they should) Do not rent Avis, if you look in Google you will find dozens of complaints of the same type, I do not believe in their good faith and especially in Italy have no customer service, or rather, they have it but do not respond to mail or telephone calls and have no respect for the customers who have being CHEATED No more AVIS BUDGET (there are just so many better options).

Rental agent was a *** artist

I rented a car for six days in CA before I left home. My agreement was a total of $211.00 for a mid size car. When I went to pick up the car, the agent asked me if I wanted to upgrade. I told not if it cost me additional rental fees. He told me that he would rent me a luxury car for 40 dollars a day. So I greed. Big mistake. What he really meant was 40 dollars a day extra. I left the agreement I signed with the agent but the agreement had 40 dollars a day that I initialed. What I don't remember is if the place I initialed said additional charges or not. I am trying to get a copy of the contract with my signature. My bill for the six days was over $500.00. I am going to file a complaint with the office of the president if I can get a complaint number. I will NEVER do business with Avis ever again.
