Made a reservation with Avis on-line and paid up front. The reservation was modified for drop off at different airport in same city. The modified reservation was less than the original reservation, showing a credit on the reservation confirmation, yet Avis refuses to refund my credit card. Be sure to get and keep gas receipts when returning cars to the Syracuse Airport location. We were charged for fuel on our last two rentals there even though both times we had filled up the vehicle prior to returning the car with the gauge in the "full" position. Just had a horrible Avis experience. We reserved a car several weeks in advance of our trip. We had planned to pick it up early afternoon in San Francisco, and then begin our long-awaited drive down the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway. I was looking forward to my trip to Venice and had reserved a great car rental deal online only to find out that they do not honor the reservation rate. Went on priceline and got what I thought was a good deal for a care rental $14/day. I went over one hour $8.32), so they charge me for that hour and then charged me for another whole day ($28.00).
