Rented a car and stated to the guy at the desk that I would only be driving the car for a maximum of three hours. He offered me the gas option which I took. He told me the price was $1.25 a litre but never mentioned that I would have to pay a full tank for which I was $180. There is a gas station next door to their location. My daughter and I reserved a car from an Avis rep morning. We left to pick up the car in the afternoon. We had a hard time finding the place because it was located far from the road in a hotel. Be very careful when hiring a car from Avis - it will end up costing you a lot more than you think. My expected costs of £111.35 ended up as £254.54! I hired a car on line from Avis for my trip in Edinburgh. The online charge was £111.35 for 5 days. No mention of additional charges were made clear on line. I booked a car and picked up in London. The car they gave me had mechanical problem therefore I requested to change another one. Leading a factory tour, I had 12 clients on a trip. The passenger van was not ready though we arrived on time- they gave it to someone else. This is a new low for Avis. My Wizard account was linked to my debit card (note: WAS, I've since deleted it) and, when I noticed almost $300 debited from my bank account by Avis, I immediately started looking. Made a reservation with Avis on-line and paid up front. The reservation was modified for drop off at different airport in same city. The modified reservation was less than the original reservation, showing a credit on the reservation confirmation, yet Avis refuses to refund my credit card.
