Went to Ireland last month and rented a car on the AVIS website and selected the Collision Damage Waiver. The summary page clearly shows that I didn't want the Collision coverage and offered a price to pre-pay in full. I booked with Avis online for a car in Norway. The price I booked at was $497 Canadian. When I got there, they told me that two types of insurance, the Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection, are mandatory at that location. They said I would have to pay $200 more dollars. Booked a car one year in advance for 7 day rental. Received email confirmation for $309, fees included. Leaving in 3 weeks, so I went on-line to print the reservation. DO not under any circumstances use the express check in. They will not process your car and it will show that it hasn't been returned for days. Customer service actually tells you they do not check the cars in when you return it. That it takes twenty four hours. What planet do these people live on. I booked in avis Portugal a car to rent costa rica. I ask them if the car has the mandatory insurance to run in CR and in case damage how much i have to pay.
