Our reservation with another company was cancelled, so at the Norfolk airport we went to the Avis counter and asked how much an economy car would be. We were told a price that was double what we had booked with the other company, but since we were stuck, we accepted. In December and February I hired a car from Salzburg Airport. Both times I found my credit card charged with a full fuel fill up. Both times I had only completed 140km in the car and filled up with 9 litres outside the airport return point. After emailing in February and again in March and April and May I still only have one refund - for December. Never again will I ever rent a car with Avis. I have rented a total four times with them as I arrived in St. Louis and needed a car to get to the Army base at Fort Leonorwood. Each experience worse than the time before, customer service at the counters was excellent but anything past that was horrible. Every rental I had, I was always charged for something, I declined extra insurance coverage yet was charged for it, I was given a "free" upgrade... Read more

I'm very disappointed with Avis...booked my car yesterday from Washington Dulles airport to Norfolk international airport. The lady that works at Avis Washington Dulles airport put me as "under 25 y.o" while I'm 25...But on the website Avis.com extra fee charges 27$ per day at the age of 21-24. I asked her a few times why she did so and all what I've heard is that "I have to be 26 not 25" plus I booked my car only for one day and she charged me... Read more

Don't rent Avis at Austin Bergstrom Airport. At 1:00 am there were 40+ people in line to pickup rental cars and two very slow agents to help. One sat on the phone for 20 minutes before she finally helped a very angry customer. You can't tell ne they didn't know how many cars were to be picked up they did but didn't care. If we had not prepaid we would have gone to one of the other 7 rental companies that didn't have lines because they managed... Read more

We rented a car in Italy from Avis and paid extra for the Garmin. The Garmin had not been updated in a long time and was set incorrectly for our starting country. It took us 40 minutes to initially figure out the device and obtain the right location. Throughout our trip, it was difficult to use, inaccurate. I rented a car at the San Diego airport in May of 2016. Darnell my agent asked if I wanted extra insurance services. I told him NO, he said that I needed to sign the screen to decline the offer. Very poor customer service. Charged me Euro 29.75 as administration service for providing my name and address for a traffic ticket in Germany which I have already paid. When I called the customer service they told me that they'll waive this charge and I should see refund in my credit card in 2-3 days. I booked an AVIS vehicle for my trip to Panama City on the AA.com website. During the booking process I was offered an insurance policy from ALLIANZ. I paid for this policy and went on my merry way to Panama. One of their rental cars,driven and covered by their insurance coverage hit my car and now Avis does not want to fix my car. You call and get stuck in foever phone land. The people in the regular stores know to ditch you if u call to inquire about coverage. Add comment
